Canter Inn is a neighborhood fine dining restaurant set in a 1902 Queen Anne Victorian home in the Village of New Glarus, WI. Husband-wife chef duo Jon Nodler and Sam Kincaid--the fourth generation of restaurant owners in the space-showcase the dynamic agricultural products of Green Co., Wisconsin, woven together with the region’s Swiss heritage and Jon and Sam’s contemporary approach to dining.

Coming Home

Jon and Sam started their hospitality careers in Madison, WI in 2008, then gained invaluable experience in Philadelphia, first under the ownership of James Beard Winner, Ellen Yin, then in their own restaurant, Cadence. Set in the quickly evolving South Kensington neighborhood, Cadence quietly but surely built a loyal following and earned several accolades, including Food & Wine Magazine "Best New Restaurant" in 2019. After powering through almost two years operating through the pandemic, Sam and Jon returned to the Madison area to be closer to family. From their new home in Green Co., they frequented the charming town of New Glarus, and that's where they discovered the opportunity to imagine the next generation of 119 5th. Ave.
